ABOUT ANGELA

Originally born in Germany, Angela Philippi moved to Cheltenham in 2007, just over 10 years ago.

“Throughout my life, I never quite understood why there was so much discontentment in most people and especially in myself. It seemed to me as if everything around me and within me was rather fear-driven and anything but joyful.

I had a tendency towards experiencing anxiety and depression, and this therefore led to a lot of questions: “there must be more to life than this”, “there must be something that can’t be fully comprehended or defined through the mind”, “why can’t I be happier”, etc.

Through trial and error and a lifetime of dedication to learning how the mind functions, I developed a natural interest in more holistic ways of living and dealing with the daily ups and downs of life.

I started to do a lot of research into holistic therapies and techniques, and it was great to see that there was something to be learned from every book, every article, every branch of science and art.

I absorbed everything I could that I thought might be useful to me personally, as I became increasingly determined and serious about feeling better and more at peace with myself.

After practicing meditation occasionally, I then decided to become a graduate of Zenways as a meditation and mindfulness teacher.

I learned an enormous amount during my training, not only about myself but also about how I was able to teach others.

It included over a year of study and practicing prior to me achieving my qualifications.

EVERTHING FALLS INTO PLACE

“Obviously I had to ‘practice what I preach’, so I went through the entire Wellbeing Course myself before I began teaching it to clients.

I can therefore speak from an authentic point of view when teaching it.

It is beautiful to be in a position where I can now help other people to get the same benefits and improve their lives that I did.

The course and the time of study and practice helped me enormously to relax, physically and mentally, to feel happier, more resilient, and much more."

 POSITIVE CHANGE

"It certainly didn’t mean that my life became much easier all of a sudden, but I definitely started to build a very different, better relationship to the ups and downs we all experience.

It increased my awareness so I learned that instead of being a victim of my thoughts, I can be the observer of my thoughts, which means I am no longer non-stop run by ‘the voice in my head’, realising that it was the exact same ‘voice’ which been leading me to most of my suffering in the past.

I am therefore very enthusiastic and passionate about teaching this course to others, and find it very fulfilling to contribute towards positive change in someone.

Looking back, I can say it certainly changed my life for the better and I am very determined to continue practicing what I have learned and continue with my own personal development and growth with meditation, mindfulness and holistic therapies.

It keeps me balanced and grounded in my day-to-day life with its ongoing ups and downs, and it really taught me that, if you are seriously determined to become better, you must start with yourself first and look within.

When this approach is pursued, the rest of your life’s expectations will fall into place.”

By the way, my friend Kim is running similar courses to the ones I offer, having studied with Zenways as I did, but in the even more tranquil surroundings of the beautiful islands of Lefkada in Greece, and also Sicily in Italy.

This relaxing and rejuvenating retreat can provide a lovely alternative to the normal holiday location, especially if you are a solo traveller.
